Easter Thoughts
March 28, 2007 10:19 AM
The assurance of a risen and living Lord is a great source of comfort and strength in this midst of this world where we are surrounded by so many doubters. This is what Easter is all about. Through the resurrection of Christ, we can be sure there is One True God. We can be sure of salvation through the Risen Christ. We can be sure that God is in control of our lives as we walk with Him day by day. After Christ rose from the dead, His followers began to assemble for worship on Sunday in commemoration of this glorious miracle (Acts 20:7).
Why is it that there are so many professing believers who spend their days living in doubt? Why is it that so many professing believers forsake the assembling of themselves together and ignore the pattern established by Christians in the days following the resurrection? Why is it that some people are content to stay at home and count the candies in their baskets instead of worshipping the Risen Savior? Why is it that so many professing believers are satisfied with an appearance in the assembly on Easter Sunday but seem to care less about the other 51 “first days” of the week with the possible exception of and appearance at Christmas?
My prayer is that Resurrection Sunday, April 8, 2007, will be a day of revival and renewal for many professing believers in the Capital Region. At CBC, there will be a Easter Breakfast at 9:15 a.m. When someone comes up to you and says, “He is Risen!” Respond with “He is Risen Indeed!” We will worship, eat, and pray during this time. At 10:30 a.m. the choir and drama participants will present a program entitled “Lord of All.” Songs will be sung and some drama will take place to illustrate the ways the resurrection can have meaning in our lives today. The Gospel will be clearly proclaimed and this would be a good opportunity to invite an unsaved friend or family member. Lilies will be placed around the church in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us, and if you would like to give a gift of any size in memory of a loved one, see Joann on Sunday with your gift and names.
May God bless you and your family during this time of remembrance and revival.
